Greenlet leverages proprietary IT, communications, algorithms and power electronics to create a truly scalable energy control solution.
As our patent pending technology does not require professional installation, ‘greenlet’ units can be distributed directly to the consumers who simply plug the units into their electrical outlets. The central software application then takes over, providing the electric utility providers with the control they need to manage and optimize power use.
The Greenlet system includes:
- Centralized Application for Energy Service Companies and Utilities: Manages usage of millions of appliances in order to reduce peak power consumption. The software application monitors power, predicts power consumption and power reduction potential, sends notifications to customers prior to peak events, controls power reduction via Greenlet units and Internet communications, verifies actual power reduction and provides the required information for billing to help calculate payback to consumers for "Peak Shaving".
- Greenlet kit for Consumers: A small kit is sent by mail to customers for quick and easy self-installation. Consumers connect each Greenlet unit to an appliance, which connects the gateway to the local router. There is no need for professional installation or knowledge and installation takes less than 5 minutes. The Greenlet system automatically registers on the Web application. Greenlet frequently sends power consumption information to the management system. Through commands received, the Greenlet system controls appliances (e.g.: stop/postpone usage) and regulates power.
- Customer Web Portal: Allows consumers to monitor real-time and historical power usage. In addition, the portal also allows consumers to remotely set control commands and preferences for convenience and saving purposes,
as well as track payback from utility providers.
The solution integrates Zigbee Smart Energy profile, Open AMI and Open ADR protocols.
Greenlet’s solution has been tested and deployed by utilities in the US and Europe since early 2010.
